Not Your Daddy’s Schweddy Balls

In my home, the Holiday Season means many wonderful things. It means a house that can probably be seen from orbit, wrapped in white and red Christmas lights. It means a Christmas tree decorated with far too much care for a grown adult. It means wandering down to the hometown Christmas parade, waiting for Santa to roll in on that bright red firetruck.

The Holiday Season also means something else. It means yummy, tasty balls.

Yes, I said balls. And yes, I meant it. I am talking about rum balls, kahlua balls, amaretto balls. All the delightful Holiday treats that have followed me through life and absolutely refuse to be called anything else. These things have been a tradition for as long as I can remember, and I would love for them to become a tradition in your home too.

Some folks swear by their favorite Holiday treats. Maybe it is peppermint bark, maybe it is sugar cookies shaped like reindeer, maybe it is some cake recipe passed down since forever. It might even be a gingerbread or eggnog latte from Starbucks. All fine and good. But when the Holidays roll in, priorities shift. People want Daddy’s schweddy balls.

The recipe is simple. No baking, no fuss. Just a mix, a roll, and a little patience while the magic settles. You get every bit of flavor along with every bit of the alcohol. If you want something classic, stick to one liquor. If you want something a little wild, mix and match for a festive assortment.

So here is how to make a sack of Daddy’s schweddy balls.

No Bake Balls Recipe:

• 1 to 2 cups finely crushed vanilla wafers
• 1 to 2 cups confectioners sugar
• 1 cup chopped nuts (optional)

__

• 1/3 to 1/2 cup of Rum, Kahlua, or Amaretto
__
Roll into 1 inch balls.
Roll balls in powdered sugar.
Store in an airtight container.

Have a great Holiday Season! May your celebrations always be a little naughty and a little nice!
